Indestructible insects

This months kicktest at Durbridge Mill threw up a fantastic sample of Mayfly larvae. The sample included both year 1 and year 2 larvae meaning that these critters are fairly bombproof and must have survived the ammonia pollution last year, buried in the protective silt.

Steve Martindale and I didn't see any rises and the stock fish are certainly keeping a low profile. However our find augers well for a fantastic hatch later next month which will be a true test for whatever Trout are still lurking in the Leadon.
